make your own homemade christmas presents ideas 2011, this is one of the best ways of saving some money at christmas to make your own gifts and other various items for xmas.

in some ways you would not buy a christmas dinner nearly everyone makes there own christmas dinner for the family they do not buy it in, so in that regard can you do the same when thinking of getting other people xmas presents?.

if you bought in christmas dinner just think how expensive it would be so in this regard, with a bit of thought you can save money in the same way buy making some of your own homemade christmas presents.

i would say buy some traditional regular presents from the shops as well, but to save a bit of cash at christmas some presents as well, for example if you can knit really well you could make presents that way.

or if you are really good at cooking you could make some home made christmas treats for people like cakes or chocolate to supplement the presents you buy them, this will make christmas 2011 a little bit cheaper, so it does not turn into the most expensive month of the year, and you can make these homemade gifts for anyone from your boyfriend or girlfriend, to your mum or dad, or children.

here is a list of some ideas of the kind of home made xmas gifts you could make, and then you have a idea what would suit your practical talents out of that list from what you are good at doing with handy crafts, and i have also tried to find some simple easy to make xmas home made gift ideas as well to keep the list as simple as possible.

1, make your own christmas preserves and jams for friends christmas gifts 2011.

2, make your own christmas crackers for someones gifts.

3, make someone a home made cushion cover as a xmas 2011 gift idea.

4, make someone a xmas hamper, buy a stylish carrier style box, and add items from crackers, chocolate, various tinned items, maybe some drinks etc, you could choose some items with a xmas theme like mince tarts or christmas cakes and rum sauce etc for the hamper.

5, make your own gingerbread men, and the same really with the various cakes you can make with a xmas theme like minced tarts, or christmas cake or pudding etc.

6, if you are artistic you could draw people pictures or paintings with a xmas theme or just something the person would like, or a memory of them from you, this would work out as a very cheap xmas gift idea, but would just be time consuming on your part in doing the paintings or drawings.

7, probably one of the easiest i think to make is to make home made christmas cards for your friends, if you have a printer you can print off christmas images from the computer, then you just need some thin folded card to stick the image to and you have a free to make home made xmas card, though of course you can do more then that and make them more better designed.

8, a homemade advent calendar i even remember making these at school when i was younger, these are good to make for young children the homemade advent calendar.

9, you can also make your own christmas decorations as well, for example use things like buttons etc.

Coverage of Victoria's Secret fashion show

To contact us Click HERE
You may be asking yourself why John the Revelator is posting a blog about a fashion show. The connection may seem tenuous, but consider this. Fashions shows, like karaoke, are all about people getting up on stage and making a fools of themselves to music. The only real difference that I can see is that fashion models don't have to be drunk.

I hope these photos that I purloined from Fox News will give you a taste of what the tasty and tasteful ladies will be wearing to the bedroom this coming year. I know I am looking forward to my wife, the Gypsy Songstress modelling these for me!

Starting off the show, we see this refined assemblage of bewitching underthings coupled with an understated Bozo wig. Turquoise and coral with cyan have always been my favorite set of clashing colors.
Next on the runway, we see an equally appealing collage of discordant colors in this combination super-hero costume and para-sailing outfit. Holey Underwear, Batman! If you are like me (and let's face it, who isn't?) you probably have a thing for fairies. I mean the kind that run around the woods at night, half nekkid, of course. Wait a sec... I have seen both kinda of fairies doing that. If that's your thing, then you will be glad I included a picture of this enchanting outfit. And what lingerie ensemble is complete without dual shoulder-mounted parasols to protect those delicate dual shoulder-mounted shoulders from the scorching sun while she walks her dog through the boudoir.I am proud to say that the dog she is walking is actually our very own shitsu-bichon mix, Truffle. He enjoyed the dog walk on the cat walk so much that he didn't mind having to swallow that pesky umbrella that is poking out of his tummy.Next up is Stella, looking like a stellated icosahedron in heels. And feathers. Yes. Feathers are always a nice touch. We have here a darling lady who decided to embroider her Mousketeer ears, and add ribbons. Annette Funicello, eat your heart out.The outfit below won the hard-fought contest for the most daring use of colors that really don't go together. Ever. This coveted prize was presented by Stevie Wonder. As I said, these photos are provided by the largess of Fox News. And speaking of largess, I would like to end this charming exhibitionist exhibition with the largess-est of all. What woman would not love to accentuate her caboose with this outfit that is just too-too much. This will definitely be in the package arriving at my doorstop. I cannot wait.

Karen Valentines' Day

I woke up this morning thinking about Karen Valentine. Not really sure why. Maybe I should ask my wife if today is some special day today that would remind me of Karen? Or maybe I won't ask her.
Karen Valentine, of course, played a teacher in the early 1970's sitcom Room 222. Now I'll tell you everything I can remember about the TV show. It was a sitcom about a teacher who taught in room 222 in a school somewhere. There were students, I think. And some other teachers, maybe. And some contrived, but mildly funny stuff happened. And there was the aptly named Karen Valentine. She was so uber-cute. Her face was indelibly etched into my pre-pubescent and partly pubescent mind. I swear, I could recognize a jpeg image of her with just three pixels.

Why was she so memorable, and the show not so much? You could take a few guesses. Either 1) the show was just plain stupid, like any other early 70's sitcom, 2) my memory from those years was destroyed by trying to keep up with Andre the Giant in drinking beer, or 3) I watched the show with my pre-pubescent mind, and she was uber-cute. Any or all of these guesses may be true.
Andre the Giant and Robin Wright in Princess Bride Speaking of Andre, I just read an interesting factoid about him. Wikipedia (which is the authoritative source for all celebrity gossip) states that on at least three occasions, he drank in excess of 100 beers in one sitting. This has been an inspiration for me. I have been trying to bulk up so that I (like he) can become a pro wrestler. But, since I lack the necessary culture and refinement for pro wrestling, I may have to settle for being an opera singer. At any rate, I know I need to find a fall back career. My days as an applied mathematician are numbered, since nearly every number has already been computed.

Anyway, back to Karen Valentine. As I lay in bed this morning, thinking of her, naturally I started pondering about whether she had sung karaoke. Gosh, wouldn't it be neat if she was discovered when she was singing karaoke? As my faithful reader(s) will know, my search for a singer who was discovered through karaoke has been tireless. I have researched Mary J. Blige and Koko Lee, Tommy DeCarlo of Boston, Garrett Hedlund, who appeared with Gwenyth Paltrow in the movie "Country Strong", Arnel Pineda of Journey, Taylor Swift, the group Steel Magnolias, and most recently James Garner.
Discovered by singing karaoke?Although my search has been valiant and tireless, it has also been fruitless. Could Karen Valentine be my first fruit?

I grabbed my brand new Kindle Fire and looked her up on Wiki. Gosh darn it, was I in luck! Ed Sullivan saw Karen lip-syncing to the song Blame it on the Bossa Nova, and said he wanted her on his show. Not only that, but she was caught a second time lip-syncing and got the job on Room 222 when she was seen lip-syncing.

Now, I realize that lip-syncing is not as respected as karaoke. I would argue, however, that lip-syncing feeds the same neurological dysfunction as karaoke. Both serve to lead you to believe, if only for the moment, that you too are famous. I would say that lip-syncing is the moral equivalent of karaoke.
Milli Vanilli
Ok, so you are not convinced that Karen Valentine's lip-syncing is the same as being discovered singing karaoke? Yeah. Me neither. But... another thing to consider is that karaoke wasn't around in 1969 when Karen was on her way to becoming every pre-pubescent boy's Valentine. Karaoke didn't get its start until 1971. Furthermore, although it was invented in 1971, karaoke had no purpose until Don't Stop Believin' was released in 1981. There just wasn't a need for it.

I know some of my readers may deprecate lip-syncing, or may even express strong disapproval of it. Before you cast judgment, I implore you to watch this entire lip-sync video.

Enjoy!

What or how should I charge for decorating someones house for Christmas, when the decorations are mostly mine?
I have been asked to decorate the interior of a house for Christmas. And wonder if there is a formula or guide line to follow for charging. Kitchen, entry, livingroom, bedroom, bathroom, hottub room and tree. What should the hourly rate be? For shopping for items as well? Travel time? And what/how do you charge for the use of your ornaments, there will be over 100 on the tree, plus garland, lights, figurines, candle holders and wreathes etc. elsewhere. Also hand picked pine cones. She has asked that it be elegant, so the items are not cheap. Also, if any get broken, what would I charge? Full price? They are used, but replacement isn't always possible. OOps I guess thats another few questions. But all related. Does that count? Don't answer that.

Answer 1 :
get on the internet and look up contracts for that sort of stuff...make sure you cover every detail, rental of your ornaments, labor, gas, and also if they should lose or damge items...try to google it...Barnes and Noble (a bookstore) also has a book on different types of contracts.. don't be a fool, get it in writing...if you want to protect you and your client...it also prevents anxiety:)
Answer 2 :
The cost of the products, plus 5%, plus gas, plus $10 an hour for ALL time involved, including driving and shopping.

Why did all old movie actresses have a soft voice?
Am I the only one who noticed that whenever a actress spoke it was always soft, sweet, come , naive and had that certain ring to it? Like the old princesses from Disney Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and even live action actresses like Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Vivien Leigh, etc. Was it just the tone in the audio back then for the sound to travel better or what? Was it just how all actresses spoke, maybe to better preserve their voices for future roles?

The Smile Game

To contact us Click HERE
I'm not yet a father, but here's a tale of me and a child for Father's Day:

The other evening while riding home on the train the seat in front of me was filled with two brown eyes and a pacifier; a little cutie who couldn't have been more than a year old stood on the seat (balanced by mom in the seat next to her) and she found me as fascinating as the world passing by out the window. Or perhaps she merely found facing toward me to be a more stable posture for her.

At that age obviously they have no grasp of social convention and don't balk at staring. And staring. And staring. There's a reason infants strike us as so adorable; otherwise they'd be annoying as heck.

So I smiled at her, and behind the pacifier I could see the corners of her mouth curl up in a smile. I did this with her as long as I could feel comfortable with engaging in a staring contest with a stranger's child (so I wouldn't cross over into creepy territory), then glanced down at my iPod or out the window, and her mom or slightly older sister would point her toward the window. However, it would only be a matter of time until she was facing me again, and we'd play the smile game again. Then we'd all take a window break.

Then there came a point where I glanced away after another round of smile game, and she reached her little hand over the back of the seat and touched my hand, as a clear signal that she wanted me to resume paying attention to her. So we played the smile game a little more. Not long after her family reached their stop and all exited, and I watched them walk out the door, without my new friend looking at me. I imagine I was already out of her mind, but obviously she stuck in mine.

For all of our vaunted intellect and all the marvels that our power to think has done to keep our species contented, it's still kind of sad to realize there was a time when we needed nothing more than a friendly face smiling back at us to fill us with joy, where there was absolutely nothing else we wanted in that moment, and that once we develop our brains we will never be so easily contented.

Life is really nothing but going downhill once we're out of diapers.

Story of the fire

To contact us Click HERE
Tuesday night my wife and I were lying in bed, watching the 10 p.m. episode of House Hunters, when we heard beeping noises outside our condo's window. At first it sounded like a truck was backing up, over and over, but it quickly became evident that no truck could be backing up that long.

Then we heard shouts.

Now, the building next to ours (which is literally 15 feet outside our bedroom window) has occasionally had some loud conversations late at night—thankfully not very often, but shouts are not entirely unprecedented. However, the shouts weren't between two people arguing or something; they were panicked.

We looked through the blinds of the bedroom window and we couldn't see the building only 15 feet away because there was smoke. We then heard people crying "Help!" I went to the balcony off the living room and the smell was getting stronger. I leaned out and looked down the passway between the buildings and saw that the ground-level unit at the far end of the next building had flamed shooting at least six to eight feet into the air coming from the window. My wife had come out of the bedroom and I said, "It's serious." She immediately dialed 911, but the fire had been reported. In fact, by the time she was talking to the operator we heard the sirens.

Luckily, we live only a few blocks from the main fire station in town. We often hear the sirens passing by, so loud we must pause the TV, but in this case it wasn't a bother; it was marvelously welcome. Still, even with the fire department on scene, we put on clothes, because with the proximity of the buildings the flames wouldn't have far to go to get on our side.

Even without flames on our side, the smoke had filled the courtyard area of our building, and she dared not go outside into that, lest she have an asthma attack, so I went down to the street to check it out. The street adjacent to the opposite side of the next building was filled with five fire engines and a paramedic ambulance. Still, more fire engines kept arriving, and eventually there were, by my count, nine.

There were ladders up to the second floor unit windows, but anyone evacuated that way was already down. I stayed down on the corner to stay out of the way, but it appeared they'd gotten everyone out and the fire itself contained. My wife could see from our bedroom window what was going on in the back, and it did appear they got the fire out fairly quickly; it didn't spread farther than the unit where it started. She called me on my cell and told me how they were spraying some substance (which she could smell), presumably something to quell any further flames. At this point I went back up to our unit, as several of the fire engines started to leave, with the situation under control. I saw no people being attended to by paramedics so it appeared they got everyone out without injury, thank goodness.

We heard helicopters overhead, presumably from local news stations, but by this point there wasn't much to see; we flipped on the 11:00 news but there was no mention.

We were glad that the situation didn't escalate into something newsworthy.

IFC's offering at 9 a.m. today: the 1958 camptastic horror flick, Blood of the Vampire.

The IMDb plot synopsis: "A man and wife are terrorized by Mad Scientist Dr. Callistratus who was executed but has returned to life with a heart transplant. Along with his crippled assistant Carl, the 'anemic' Mad Scientist, believed to be a vampire, conducts blood deficiency research on the inmates of a prison hospital for the criminally insane to sustain his return to life."

The DirecTV info plot synopsis: "A couple enters the asylum of a mad vampire doctor and his one-eyed assistant with bangs, Carl."

Nothing sells the movie like very specific details about the henchman's hair style.

House Hunters in the Outhouse

My wife and I are people who keep the TV on more than we should. Allow me to concede that right up front. We watch (as in, actively choose to pay attention—or as close to that as anyone does in this era of Twitter and iPads and the other diversions that can co-exist with TV viewing) a fair number of shows, but there's also times when we put something on that's mostly just background—well, more pseudo-background, as it can prove to be something that gets as much attention as the shows we actively sought (and probably recorded) but without us having the specific intention of devoting ourselves to it in any way. It's something to have on while, say, making dinner, or cleaning up after dinner, or after going to bed as something that won't be disturbing and where it doesn't matter if we fall asleep part way through the episode.

Over the past couple months we've switched over to making HGTV that just-throw-on channel. People buying houses or fixing up houses or designing houses is innocuous enough to not be disturbing, but can still be compelling enough to sometimes make us back up and watch the beginning again if it gets interesting later. And we figure it might help motivate us to get back on the hunt for a property and stop renting.

What tends to be on at bedtime is House Hunters. For the uninitiated, there's someone (or a couple or a family) that is shown three places to buy and they must choose one. The appeal is really to be able to guess which they'll pick before their choice is revealed at the end. (Well, and to see how idiotic the people on it sometimes are.) It's reasonably evident that the show is heavily edited to make it seem like all three are viable, with both the desirable and undesirable features of each being noted.

There's no way that anyone who buys a house really has it come down to three like this; the fictional aspect of it is obvious to anyone who pauses to think about it, but as I noted earlier, this is not something we put on because we want to think.

So recently an article online pulled away the curtain and revealed that the house hunters are people who've already selected the house they intend to buy and are likely in escrow but merely haven't moved out of their old place yet. The other two properties shown may or may not even be for sale, and the prices are merely estimations by the producers. In the piece it notes the property the hunters will choose typically tend to be empty, so when watching it's pretty simple to pick that out from the other two (which probably have active occupants and thus are furnished).

And now, even though we more or less knew it was largely fake, seeing behind the curtain that the Wizard is a little man—not that we didn't subconsciously grasp it—has affected how well it serves that purpose for us. (Also, after this long we're starting to see episodes repeat that we remember seeing, and they're not worthy of additional viewings.)

Was the show unrealistic? Sure. Were stupid people duped into thinking home buying is easier than it really is? Perhaps, but they're stupid; they're duped by everything.

The internet: It ruins everything.

All we can do is hope HGTV puts on more Property Brothers in that time slot. At least until someone reveals what's wrong with that show...

~

And, of course, the online media has lost its sh*t over this, making a show that's been airing for 13 years suddenly into the worst thing that's happening in the world.

This cultural podcast even addressed the topic, which while conceding the addictive nature of the show, did come around to being critical of how, in the wake of the housing bubble bursting years ago and the resulting economic crisis, it was inappropriate to have such a glamorized view of home ownership, one that didn't present any counterbalancing downside.

And while that's certainly a valid point, it seems like anyone fooled by this must also believe that babies are born quickly, with little discomfort to the mother, emerge from the womb clean of any bodily fluids—you know, because that's how they've seen it happen on TV.

It's as if HGTV has an agenda of putting on programming that would help push the products of their advertisers and not uphold journalistic standards of fairness. It's as though people watching the show want nothing more than a brief escapist glimpse into what is still considered a major facet of the American Dream (home ownership). The unmitigated nerve of those viewers.

Next they'll say Food Network makes people fat…

The internet: It has too much time on its hands.

Answer 1 :
I read it four or five years ago. I liked it well enough, but wasn't blown away by it, mainly because I didn't like the main character (who I thought was incredibly selfish) enough.
Answer 2 :
yes read the book, after seeing the movie. I thought Alex Garland had really tuned into something, even more evident in the book.
Answer 3 :
This is a novel which promises a great deal, but never quite delivers in the end. The individual relationships - between Richard and the beautiful Francoise, between the various members of the community - and the sense of spiralling insanity on Richard's part, are sketched out brilliantly, giving the best parts of the novel an edge of real menace and drawing the reader completely, if temporarily, into the hermetic world the novel creates and occupies. But it's as if Garland, when it comes to it, is afraid to stick the boot in where needed, as if he loves some of his characters rather more than they deserve. The potentially explosive mix never detonates with the power you would hope for. The author is only twenty-six, however, and that he needs to learn ruthlessness is explicable and, given the many true qualities this book has, almost forgivable. Despite its flaws, The Beach is an engaging and interesting debut by an author who shows enormous promise. A little more ice in his heart and he'll surely do great things.

Which way does a cement mixer rotate in England?
Cement mixers have a history of suddenly stopping their rotation if a load of cement is not blended right. When they do they'll roll over, even whilest stopped at a traffic light. This happened some years ago in Garland, TX, instantly killing the lady in a car in the adjacent lane. My question, is this taken into account when programming the rotation? I assume one direction is for mixing or traveling and the other is for emptying. If the rollover is planned, Then it would make sense that British cement mixers would be made differently? Does anyone know which way they rotate? Here, the full loads rotate clockwise viewing from the rear.
Safety - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
I don't think there is a safe direction to roll in so I think the designers of cement trucks would just try to prevent it from happening rather than trying to get the truck to roll in the safer direction.
Answer 2 :
The direction of rotation depends upon the design of the mixer, not where it's used. The inside of a cement mixer is a cork screw shape -- one direction mixes the contents and the other empties it. A properly designed system won't rotate if the mix "goes hard" so there must have been something seriously wrong with that mixer in Garland. And a mix doesn't suddenly "go hard", it takes time to start to set.

i thought we might have had some snow by now, last year it was snowing before christmas day i think?, or before the year ended.

this year it is looking doubtful, though weather forecasters have said there is a storm on the way sometime this week, so it might snow just yet, it has definitely got a lot colder this last day or so, really chilly and those howling winds of a few weeks ago are starting up again.

so we might be in for some bad weather the second half of december, and that snow before christmas or on christmas day just yet.

but so far this year it seems to have been a lot milder then previous decembers, which is good really, unless you like being cold?, though of course a bit of snow can be nice and look good at christmas, i am not mad on the really cold weather all the same.

2012

soon arriving in a few weeks, christmas is about a week away now exactly, if you are ready for that then the next big one you need to get ready for is new years 2012, or is it called new year 2011?, with it being the end of this year?.

got a little confused then but it is new years 2012 i think, the next one will, next year will be called new years 2013 of course.

christmas 2012 and the end of the world doomsday theory?

christmas-2012

just wondering will next years christmas 2012 be dominated by the conspiracy theory of a end of the world doomsday style scenario?, a bit like how christmas and news year 1999 was dominated by the y2k hype, though nothing really materialised out of y2k?.

there are a lot of conspiracy theorists who have a belief that the world will end around the time of 12-21-2012, this belief is caused or linked to the mayan calendar, and what is called the end of a 26,000 year cycle the mayan calendar is said to show.

it just makes me wonder if this theory if it gets mainstream news coverage and not just a internet story like it is at the moment will put a downer on christmas 2012 festivities.

i do not believe the world will end on december the 21st 2012, but i could see the belief getting a more cult following up to then and stressing people out, not that there would be anything to stress out about anyway if the world decided to end no body could do anything about it anyway so why get stressed.

i say just have a happy new year in 2012 and do not let these theories dampen your spirits or christmas 2012

its here heavy snowfall in the uk took until start of february

it is here now, heavy snowfall in the uk took until start of february, was nice and warmish for december and january, but now it is back again, winter cold weather with lots of snow, started around the 4th of february 2012, the snow is back.

i did prefer the warmer style winter weather, but i guess it was only going to be a matter of time until the snow came down, and now it has happened, in february, will have to see what the next few months are like, hopefully this is a just a cold snap, and we warm back up again in the uk.

Ok, google has failed me. So now I turn to you, yahoo answers, to help me find the name of this book?
All I remember is it's about this little girl, and it's like a post apocoliptic ( I know I' can't spell, I'm 14) world. The girl's name is Garland, I think and other names that come to mind are Maddie and Simon And Elizabeth? The girl is in a traveling circus...I really can't remember much, but it's a one word title. I think '-tasia- is in it. Please help me, this is driving me nuts!

Where can i kind some good & cheap knee-length skirts in the Dallas area?
I'm pentecostal and it's hard for me to find inexpensive, knee-length skirts. I LOVE random/punk style demin skirts, so i always wear them. Does anyone know where I can kind some skirts at a good price (Not over $20.00). I am willing to travel to Irving, Garland, White Rock, Plano, and other surrounding cities of Dallas.

Might not should thrilling necessarily, but Goodwill actually has a ton of longer skirts that are in great condition! They weed out all the clothes that have been used a ton or have stain ect. and they have them all dry cleaned. I know it sometimes can be frowned on shopping there, but i love it there! Such great clothing that people just throw away!

I have a few Wizard of Oz Questions?
This is one that im sure can be explained in Wicked... in muchkinland there are to different paths... a yellow and red where does the red take you and what would've happened if Dorthy would have traveled that path... How did Judy Garland die? and when?? in Wicked they say that Glinda had blonde hair but in the actualmovie it is a natural red color... If you can answer all of them ill post another question and automatically give you to best answer right or not
Movies - 4 Answers

Answer 1 :
it was never explained where the red path leads, so it is unknown what would have happend. judy died in 1967 due to a drug overdoes and glindas hair color was changed b/c the movie came before wicked
Answer 2 :
the red brick road was never mention i am not sure when judy died, it might have been a drug overdose as for Glenda's hair color idk. they might have made it red so it would pop more considering it was the first colored movie...in the original book wizard of oz the ruby shoes where not red, i believe they were gold. i belive wicked was published in the mid 90's that came way after the movie
Answer 3 :
The Red Path leades to wherever your imagination lets you think it leads... Judy died of a drug overdose in 1969 on June 22 (12 days after her birthday). Yes, 'Wicked' is different from 'Wizard of Oz'. They just sampled Wizard, but they couldn't fully copy it.
Answer 4 :
To answer the question of the two brick roads, you must go to the original books rather than the movie...the red brick road leads to Quadling Country (google map of oz)

(Points: 3) The story gives a faithful representation of characters, settings, and events that readers recognize and relate to. The story focuses exclusively on the feelings of one character so readers gain a complete understanding of him. The story relies primarily on firsthand, written accounts of soldiers who fought for both sides in the Civil War. The story contains only a few supernatural elements to keep readers interested and the plot moving forward. 4. Answer 1 :
I suppose your teacher gave you these questions to see how well you understood the stories he/she assigned, not to see how well I remembered things I read thirty years ago. I will say these questions are easy enough so I do know the answers after thirty years. You should too.
Answer 2 :
This looks an awful lot like a formal assessment, not at all like homework or study sheet material. Thus, helping would be encouraging cheating and I just can't do that. Now, if there was a "real" question or confusion over what something meant or if a passage you pulled out was a metaphor for something, that's a whole different story!

Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell and Living in London??????
And so was Joy Gresham (`Nobody wants to treat a Jewish lady`) and Sylvia Plath and Judy Garland and Mama Cass...And Ava Gardner. Even Raymond Chandler, another American...and a great, great one...died ignominiously and without medical attention looked after by locals in an Eaton Square basement flat. (poss the same one as I) Garland died of a heart attack; had obviously been to the local surgery and been told to `take an aspirin and ring me in the morning`; because neighbours recall seeing her and in some distress on the nite that she putatively committed suicide. Why the HELL doesn`t the richest country on earth have an American hospital in London and why the HELL don`t they make a big stink when the British treat Americans like scum in need of medical attention? Instead the Americans force us to travel half way around the world to attend a tribunal which ipso facto exonerates British negligence. Complicity? Who knows!

Answer 1 :
If you don't like it here, you could always go home. You don't HAVE to have medical insurance to get medical assistance in this country. But because of that, many people come here for free treatment, putting a burden on our resources. If all the freeloaders went home (or were charged before they were treated), our NHS might be in a better state than it is now.

My parents are getting ready to die move into a retirement community. Consequently, my mother has been purging the basement of all kinds of family mementos. The last carton of precious keepsakes she sent contained a big manilla envelope of old photographs, including a couple with Santa. The first is from 1970, when we still lived in Arcadia, California. I'm not sure when the second one was taken. Since I'm posed with my little brother, I'm guessing 1971 or 1972. I'm including the presentation folios cuz I think the graphics are pretty cool, especially the rather mod one from the latter snap. Enjoy!
